About the Founders
How Our Story Began
Meet Lili and Ramon Montes, two siblings who are turning every day into a chance for endless adventure.

The seed for Limon was planted when Co-Founder and CEO Lili Montes was a teenager. She served as the anchor for her high school’s news show and started a segment called Hot Spot, where she shared the best places to explore around her suburban hometown in Livermore, California. Upon her arrival at UC Santa Barbara, she created a YouTube channel for the series alongside her brother Ramon, who later became a Co-Founder of Limon!
Inspired by their love of exploration and motivated to share it with the world, they presented their YouTube video series at UCSB’s New Venture Competition in February 2020. Four months later, they committed full-time to their passion and began transforming their vision into reality. After brainstorming how to best display travel information, they pivoted their mission to build a website and soon-to-be app for day trips!

Lili + Ramon = Limon
Lili and Ramon decided to title their start-up “Limon,” combining their names into one. Limon means both “Lemon” and “Lime” in Spanish, calling back to the Montes siblings’ Hispanic heritage. On day trips, the duo loves to enjoy Limon-flavored drinks.
A data analysis from Crunchbase found that Latinx-founded startups received only 2.1% of venture capital funding in 2021. Female-founded startups tend to hover around that same 2% mark, according to Forbes. Lili and Ramon hope to change that narrative with Limon.
