Meet the Team

Lili Montes
Co-Founder / CEO

Hey, everyone. I’m Lili Montes, the Co-Founder and CEO here at Limon. My entrepreneurial journey began when I was 12 years old and that really allowed me to see what it takes to run a business and get it off the ground. And also to start discovering my passions at a young age, which ended up being business, exploration and content creation. So in high school, I also had another passion of studio broadcasting. I was in my high school’s news show and I had a segment on there called Hotspot which showed students the best places to explore around my hometown of Livermore, California up in the Bay Area. People always complain that there’s nothing to do around Livermore, but I wanted to be able to show them that if they just take a second to pause and look at the world around them, they could realize that there’s so much more to explore than meets the eye. So I had this segment in high school, everyone loved it. But when I went to college at UC Santa Barbara, my eyes were on the prize with business. I got into the Co-ed entrepreneurship fraternity, Sigma EAP. And that started cultivating my mindset about discovering problems in everyday life that you could solve. So one thing that I’d realized when I was making these videos early on is that people had a hard time finding places to explore and they wanted to find it from people that they trust. So I started this video series up again at UCSB and it got my entrepreneurial mind thinking about ways that I could solve it. So I took this idea into a business competition. I also ended up becoming the official UCSB Instagram ambassador and had an explore series on there to show students the best places to explore around UCSB. And eventually through this business competition, I ended up thinking of early ideas for what eventually evolved into Limon. So why day trips? Well, I grew up around the time of the great recession. So I didn’t have the opportunity to travel to far away destinations, but instead had a greater appreciation for the world around me. I grew up in northern California, went to college on the central coast and then now live in southern California. So it’s really gotten me to see California regions that each have its own unique charm and something truly special about each of them. What I love about audio is the authentic human connection. People connect with stories and at the heart of travel is the wisdom, growth and lived experiences from people’s journeys. I’m excited to share all of my travel stories, hidden Gems and day trip tips with you on the limon app.

Ramon Montes
Co-Founder / COO

Hey guys Im Ramon I’m one of the co-founders here at Limon. And I wanted to take you guys on a little walk on the beach with me today, to tell you about how Limon was created. it all started off when my sister was back in college. If you listen to her audio story here, you already heard all about that. She was in studio broadcasting telling people what to do around the area. So I had some similar experiences that led me to the same conclusion as her. When I was growing up, and in high school, I travelled a lot for volleyball, and something I noticed is that whenever we would go to these cool states or different places, we went to, like Ohio, Texas, other states like that. We never really knew what to do while we were there. there was just a lack in our knowledge about the cool things that we can do in other places. So that kind of led me to wanting to build something like this where people could share their authentic travel stories. what I don’t want to hear necessarily.If I’m picking a place is, this meal was delicious I gave it five stars. I want to hear more about what was your experience, like there? What was the atmosphere like? What was your true authentic story? So when Lili and I were in Santa Barbara together, she, decided she wanted to do all these business competitions, and she needed a partner to do that with, So she asked me. And since I had nothing going on that weekend on a whim, I just decided to say yes. And then from there, we did the tech stars start up weekend. And then we did the new venture competition through UCSB as well. which is like a nine month long start up competition. And that’s when I really fell in love with start ups. and then from there, we’ve just been iterating on different travel ideas since originally we were a road trip app. But as we did more market validation, as we got more familiar with the travel industry, we found that there really needs to be a place for people to tell their stories. And that’s what we want to create. That’s what we’re building. So I really hope to hear you guys on the Limon app and listen to all the amazing stories you have to tell.      

Dori Mouawad
Founding Engineer

Hello there. My name is Dori Mouawad and I’m a software developer here at Limon. I have been doing software development for about nine years now. And when I’m not writing code, I enjoy playing golf, traveling and working out. What excites me most about Limon is that it offers users a creative way to share their favorite day trips. And I’m very much looking forward to hopping on and checking out day trips that maybe I don’t even know about within my own area. So see you on Limon

Product Manager

Hey there. I am Ali and I’m the product manager here at Limon. The thing that excites me the most about working at Limon are the mission driven people, great culture and overall freedom that I have in shaping the future and the impact we’re making. By the way, my favorite way of enjoying a new city or town is to go to a hole in the wall place that only locals know about like barrel room vaults in downtown San Francisco. Kristi Montes
Business Development

Hi, I’m Kristi Montes. And in case you’re wondering, I am the mother of co-founders, Lili and Ramon Montes. I have been in business development for the past eight years and I am so proud and lucky to be part of what Limon is building here. When Lili and Ramon were kids, we had a lot of fun taking day trips all over California. We raised the kids in NorCal my family was from SoCal and they went to college in Central California. So our day trips were primarily up and down the California coast. My favorite memories include Monterey in NorCal, to Santa Barbara in central California and all the way down to San Diego in SoCal. And I can’t wait to tell you all about those trips on the Limon App. In fact, I can’t wait to share Limon with the world so everyone can be inspired to travel more, tell their travel stories and share those adventures.
